Audi S3 Sportback
Audi S3 Sportback
Well back to the Audi dealership but instead of the S5 I had hoped for I took out the new Audi S3 Sportback. Dubbed by Top Gear the Audi S3 Sportback is now regarded as the rich mans GTI. To which I can confirm having driven both the S3 Sportback and the GTI and if we were to compare the two which we are not I would mention the Audi’s higher price point justified a tuned engine, pumping out a very decent 256 hp from the turbocharged 2.0-litre unit, while the GTI only manages 210 hp so be careful you don’t need to Get out of a Ticket
The entry level performance Audi S3 conveys an exceptional combination of four-wheel-drive grip, unbridled performance from its robust four cylinder turbocharged engine. The sportback provides the most spacious interior and practicality in its class.

Audi S3 Sportback Performance
Once I got behind the wheel I made sure that the 2.0-litre turbocharged TFSI engine was well stretched before actually hitting the curvy escarpment to put the full package of the all wheel drive and the best part is the short-throw six speed manual transmission, which manages in an on demand all wheel drive automatically, right when the system detects slip. It is German automotive technology at its finest.
The incentives for all this effort is apparent the Audi s3 Sportback’s 2.0-litre engine that is economical and yet delivers the performance to embarrass many six-cylinder engines. It's also lightweight and compact which means a smaller, more aerodynamic front end design and the suspension which deliver enhanced ride, handling and steering feel. Taken from the owners manual an average fuel consumption of 9.8L/100km is common, but as an indication, the car will, encourage the driver to change up early. Through an indicator on the dash
Audi S3 Sportback Interior
Handsome silk nappa leather sports seats cupped my butt well - the front seats are a figure hugging new sports design from the Audi Exclusive and are adjustable for height. The steering wheel is a little thicker then I would like but leather wrapped and has a flat bottom .Like always it is adjustable for reach and also contains all the needed buttons and dials for the infotainment audio system.
A feature I knew I would come to like is the instrument panel which has a function for timing laps should you venture to a track day. The test car was trimmed with the optional brushed aluminum which matched the trim for the air vents, pedals and gear lever. Audiophiles will be grateful for the BOSE sound system 6-disc CD with MP3 and a six-channel amplifier. And with the crack down cell phone usage in the car the Bluetooth phone preparation is included.
Audi S3 Sportback
Audi is known for their build quality and some of the best interiors in the automotive industry, and the new S3 lives up to that standing. The sports seats in the Audi S3 are comfortable, so long journeys will not be demanding. There is ample room in the back for adults in the five-door Sportback as I sat in each one of the seats, making it sense like the most spacious in the hatchback segment. In my opinion though, the Audi S3 Sportback really has no equivalent other than the Golf GTI. Now if you are considering the S3 Take a look at it’s bug brother the Avant Audi A4 and while you consider them be sure and grab your two free chapters that will help you save on your insurance for either of them. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll get my chance to do the S5 review...
